Thk Vicomto and Vicomteste de Toc-queville are in San Francisco. The Vi-comte is the groat-grandson of the celebrated Malesherbes, who obtained the dangerous honor of pleading the cause of Louis XVI when he was arraigned before the National Convention in 1792, and who was also noted as an author and for his tragic death, wliich occurred in 1793—ho, with his whole family, being guillotined for the crime of defending his king. Tlie Vicomte do Touquoville is also a nephew of Aloxi Charles Henri do Tocquevillo, the famous author. He is a member of tho French Assembly, representing Cherbourg. Ho is also Consoilleur General de la M^nche, and was a colonel in the Franco-Prussian war.
